One Scot Harvath novel down

by wfgodbold

Quite a few to go.  I finished The Lions of Lucerne a couple days ago, and started Path of the Assassin yesterday.  Lions was a good thriller (very much in the vein of classic Tom Clancy), and hopefully the series will only get better.  I should have expected nothing less from an author with the last name Thor.

David Drake’s latest RCN novel is on the way; according to UPS, I should have it on Tuesday.  It will be interesting to see where he takes Daniel Leary and Adele Mundy this time; wherever they go, intrigue and action are sure to be waiting for them.  The series is a SF take on the Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O’Brian (you may have seen Master and Commander), and while not as technical (after all, most of the tech in the RCN series is completely fictional), it’s a worthy homage.  The RCN series also hasn’t fallen victim to its own success in the way that David Weber’s Honor Harrington series (itself an SF homage to the Horatio Hornblower series) has; as the series goes on, the books get more and more bloated, and I just don’t have the patience (or the inclination) to reread everything to remind myself what is going on every time a new book comes out.
