Quote of the Indeterminate Time Interval – AuricTech

by wfgodbold

“I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it (unless, of course, it offends a Designated Victim Group).”

Senator Voltaire Graham, 3 April 2011

AuricTech mocks Graham’s idiotic comment regarding freedom of expression and Koran burning.

Mark Steyn is excellent, as usual, and even manages to work in the classic Gen. Napier quote regarding the practice of sati.

Andrew McCarthy, though, takes umbrage with Gen. Petraeus’s response to the incident, particularly the following excerpt:

We further hope the Afghan people understand that the actions of a small number of individuals, who have been extremely disrespectful to the Holy Qur’an, are not representative of any of the countries of the international community who are in Afghanistan to help the Afghan people.

Look. I understand that you’re trying to avoid further unhinging a country full of ravening savages, but being “disrespectful to the Holy Qur’an” is NOT A CRIME. It’s a book. Same as any other.

I’m not one to condone the burning of books; I love reading. But if Terry Jones paid for the Koran himself, then it’s his property, and he can damn well burn it if he sees fit.
