Ready Steady Go

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan is a Japanese rhythm game for the Nintendo DS; the novel gameplay makes excellent use of the touch screen. As you tap circles in time with the music (or out of time, as the case may be), you control how well a cheerleading group does; the more accurate you are, the better they do; the better they do, the more encouraged various people in trouble are, and the more likely they are to persevere and succeed in the face of adversity.

This game was well done, and due to the minimal Japanese knowledge required to play the game (and the lack of a region lock on the DS), was import friendly.

The final stage in the game has the Ouendan motivating the entire world to use the power of perseverance to save the earth from an oncoming meteor; the track that plays is L’arc-en-Ciel’s Ready Steady Go (probably more widely known as the second opening theme from the first Fullmetal Alchemist series).
