It doesn’t seem possible that Terminator 2: Judgement Day could be twenty years old, but it hit theaters July 3, 1991.
It’s the best of the films in the series, and the high point of James Cameron’s career as a director (True Lies was good, I haven’t seen Titanic, and then Avatar. The decline is obvious!). The Sarah Connor Chronicles did a pretty good job of picking up where T2 left off, but poor ratings led to its cancelation (and on a cliffhanger, to boot!).
I don’t know why Cameron is good at directing sequels; he did a good job with Aliens, as well. Maybe he made so much money off Titanic that he got Lucas syndrome.
Terminator 2 is as good today as it was when I first saw it; the main theme is still ominous.
