Quote of the Indeterminate Time Interval – Kate

by wfgodbold

In the comments on her post regarding the Columbia Journalism Review’s celebration of a newspaper that turned down a buyout offer from Rupert Murdoch and so went out of business, Kate says:

Falling on your sword for a principle makes you heroic.

Throwing 1100 others on your sword for a principle makes you Vlad the Impaler.

This describes perfectly those who think that a raped and strangled woman is morally superior to a live woman with a dead rapist at her feet.

Or, for that matter, that a savagely beaten gay man is morally superior to a gay man who intimidates his attackers by pretending to be armed.
