Filgaia (ファルガイア)

by wfgodbold

While the opening is good, the real gem in the Wild Arms Alter Code: F soundtrack is the overworld theme music.

Into the Wilderness might have been inspired by Ennio Morricone’s spaghetti western scores, but Filgaia flat out steals them.

Blatantly.

And while it might be little more than a ripoff of The Ecstasy of Gold, Filgaia is still an excellent ripoff. Not as somber as the original, but still good in its own way.

Into the Wasteland (荒野の果てへ)

by wfgodbold

Wild Arms orginally came out not long after the PlayStation first launched (it was later remade for the PS2); instead of having mostly medieval trappings, like most RPGs of the time, it was set on a world called Filgaia (or Falgaia), where guns and deserts and magic were prevalent.

This blend of spaghetti western elements with traditional fantasy (for there were still kings and princesses and castles about, if you looked for them) made for an excellent game, and Wild Arms was well received.

The music, too, was evocative of spaghetti westerns, especially those scored by Ennio Morricone.
