The PPACA looks like it’s on the ropes

Though the word on the internets is that the court is being tough on both sides of the argument.

I’m on the side of liberty, myself. But then, I tend a bit heavily towards the minarchist.

Sure, saying that if this is approved, then the government can require you to do anything is a bit of a slippery slope argument, but in this case, it seems to be true.

Given that the feds will kick in your door if you don’t pay off your student loans, is there any question that the same tactics will be on the table if you don’t get health insurance?

I just want the government to leave everyone alone. Is that so bad?

Lion-Irony of Fate

Tales of Destiny is the second mothership title in what has become my favorite JRPG series (supplanting Final Fantasy; the last half dozen games in that series have been rather lackluster).

Like many JRPGs, it follows the story of a band of adventurers struggling to fight an ancient evil. In this instance, our heroes™ are aided by the magical Swordians, a race of talking swords (yes, really) that have existed for generations.

Tales of Destiny retains the super-deformed sprites from Tales of Phantasia, as well as the linear battle system that (with a few modifications from game to game) ties the series together.

And if GM thinks that a new $1/gal gas tax is going to increase demand for the awful Volt, they’ve got another thing coming.

When we’re spending near-record levels of income on energy, raising taxes on gas is not going to solve problems.

It takes a huge jump in the price of gas for a new car to be a viable option; we’re talking years before the better gas mileage pays for itself.

And if you need that money to pay for a new $1/gal gas tax, you’re sure as hell not going to be spending it on a new car. Especially one made buy the geniuses who came up with said tax.
