We’re #13! Woo hoo!

by wfgodbold

According to the stats posted by Joe Huffman, Arkansas is thirteenth (with ~3.588% of the population licensed (1 in 27.9 people)) when the states are ordered according to percentage of population with concealed-carry licenses.

Beating us, in order, are: New Hampshire, South Dakota, Utah, Pennsylvania, Idaho, Tennessee, Washington, Indiana, Wyoming, and Florida.

New Hampshire is in first by a mile, too; 16.497% of New Hampshirians (New Hampshirites? Whatever.) are licensed to carry. That’s 1 in 6.1 people! South Dakota’s 6.85% (1 in 14.6 people) pales in comparison.

I’d have thought there would be more than 6.3 million CCW holders in the whole country, but you can’t argue with the numbers*.

If you’re curious about your own state, head over to Joe’s and download the spreadsheet and check!

*Technically, I suppose you can argue with the numbers. It just won’t end well. Math is kind of a dick.

Illburns Ruins (イルバーンズの遺跡)

by wfgodbold

When I have trouble coming up with a game soundtrack to choose from, I tend to return to Falcom’s Ys series.

Of all the gams in that series, my favorite is the third: Ys: The Oath in Felghana.

This remake of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys took that game’s basic sidescrolling action and brought it into 3D (with other improvements as well; the music was completely rearranged, rerecorded, and remastered).

The following track plays when Adol makes his way through one of the earlier dungeons, the Illburns Ruins.

I survived orientation

And they didn’t even give me a t-shirt!

Surprisingly, it wasn’t a complete waste of time; some of the lectures were helpful (brief and outline instruction), but some were not-so-helpful (I don’t really see the point of scaring incoming 1Ls with horror stories about the bar exam).

I’ve got the weekend to do the posted reading and preparation for classes; come Monday morning, I’ll be in thrall to the various professors and their Socratic method.
